There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.

About me…
Hello, I'm Sorayda, a licensed professional counselor, dedicated to supporting individuals through life's challenges with compassion, understanding, and evidence-based care.
A Virginia native, I grew up in Virginia Beach before moving to the Shenandoah Valley. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from James Madison University and my Master's in Counseling from Eastern Mennonite University, graduating in 2013. Since then, I've built my career across varied settings. Much of my experience has focused on outpatient mental health services and crisis psychiatric assessments, including working in emergency rooms and jails with individuals experiencing severe mental illness. From 2016 to 2024, I served as a high school counseling director, guiding adolescents and families through pivotal moments of growth and transition.
In June 2024, I relocated to Charlottesville. I have enjoyed bringing my expertise to this beautiful area and offering therapy that feels collaborative, non-judgmental, and empowering.
Outside the office, I find joy in my roles as a wife, mother, and stepmother—family is at the heart of who I am. I love the outdoors - particularly the beach, paddleboarding the Rivanna River, camping, and tending my garden. I also love yoga, reading, animals, and my indoor plants.
